Earlier, this week Fox19 ran an in-depth and informative look at the Cincinnati housing market, dubbing Cincinnati as the \u201chottest in the nation.\u201d Within the article, Brandon Rudd, Director of the Center for Research and Data noted that \u201cOne big difference between now and ten years ago is that we are increasingly seeing in-migration from large metros across the country. Ten years ago, people were moving here from smaller Ohio and Kentucky cities. Now, we still have migration from places like Dayton and Lexington, but also New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, and Seattle. Additionally, we are seeing strong migration from Asia and other international locations.\u201d<\/p>\n
This week\u2019s data spotlight highlights exactly where new residents to the Cincinnati region are coming from. The data shows that in 2020, the latest available year, the Cincinnati region had strong net migration (residents moving here vs. residents making the opposite move) from larger metro areas across the country, while still attracting a high volume of residents from nearby metros. Additionally, the data for is showing a similar pattern for Hamilton County, our region\u2019s most populous county.<\/p>\n
As Cincinnati continues to grow its reputation on the world stage through internationally renowned events like BLINK, and the talent attraction and advocacy efforts of the Chamber and other business organizations, the Chamber\u2019s advocacy for policies that increase the housing supply will continue to be some of our most important and visible work<\/p>\n
